Earlier this year there were reports going around that Paula Abdul was gettin’ ready to sign on and host a new version of the TV talent show Star Search. In fact, rumors were running rampant as to what Paula‘s next gig would be since she left American Idol a couple of years ago. Today, we know that she will be hosting her own competitive dance show on CBS called Live To Dance … and we also get our first look at the show.
After two years away from the judges table, Paula Abdul soon will be with her new competition series Live to Dance. Based on the trailer, her new show is more America’s Got Talent than American Idol. Unlike Idol, there’s is no age limit as pint-sized performers are seen competing against seniors. There are also groups mixed in with solo dancers, and a wide variety of dance styles on display. Abdul is still the same quirky, off-the-wall judge who knows how to get fans’ heads scratching. Case in point: “I want different. I want new. I want amazing people that live in their unique ability.”
Oh Paula … how we’ve missed you. Honestly, judging a dance competition makes the most sense for her … I mean, was she ever really a proper singing judge? Paula’s stregnth — the foundation of her superstar career — is dance. Live to Dance is her way to share that love with the world … and is, apparently, a way to share great and not-so great dancers with the world as well. It looks cute. I’m not a big fan of these sorts of competitive reality TV shows but … I’m deffo gonna give Paula Abdul‘s new show a shot. I used to LOVE her to DEATH when I was in high school in her popstar days. That intense love has waned considerably in recent years … but I still got a place in my heart for our dear Paula. What do y’all think … does Live to Dance look like a show that YOU would like to watch?
