Yesterday was a recuperation day for me. Absent the fact that 3 nights in a row of FUNKY-ASS Prince concerts at The Forum (HERE, HERE and HERE) is sure to take its toll on anyone, I’ve been battling cold symptoms that have really been wearing me down. Because of my malaise, I had to miss out on a trip that David and his friend Jeremy took to Disneyland. Instead, I spent much of the day sleeping. I did venture out at night to meet up and have dinner with my dear friend Darion … then I returned home to watch an old movie. Because I was in such a Prince mood, I decided to rewatch the 1986 film Under the Cherry Moon … and was reminded about just how HORRIBLE a movie it really is.
Lawd Have MERCY! Under the Cherry Moon, Prince‘s second film, is really difficult to watch. The soundtrack is amazing (one of his best collections of songs, to be honest) but the movie … ugh … is wretched. I mean … let’s be real … even Purple Rain is a bad film … but UTCM is THE worst. Like Madonna, Prince is an amazing pop star who just can’t seem to make a decent movie. I actually have never seen his third film Graffiti Bridge but I might have to check it out. I hear it’s not a good film either but … it can’t be worse than Under the Cherry Moon. Ah well.
Tonight, David and I are planning to meet up with Tam and Rob for a bowling double date … that should be fun. Tomorrow, night we are going to a screening of Thor and then I’ll be attending the 3 new Prince concerts on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the end of thw week. Happy Days are here again! Happy Monday!!
