In mid-February we learned that Friday Night Lights actress Adrianne Palicki was cast in the coveted role of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman for the new David E. Kelly reboot TV series for NBC due out this Fall. Earlier this week we saw photos of Elizabeth Hurley on the WW set as the villainous Veronica Cale but right now we get our FIRST LOOK at Adrianne in costume as Wonder Woman herself. As you might imagine, this new incarnation of Wonder Woman comes with a new costume … a costume that makes a few changes to the iconic costume that we all know and love. Check it out what the new Wonder Woman looks like below.
Red alert! Or should we say blue? EW has obtained an exclusive first look of Adrianne Palicki as Wonder Woman — aka Diana Prince — from NBC’s reboot of the classic 1970s series. What’s different from what we’ve seen before? Well, how about those shiny blue pants? And blue boots instead of red ones? Compared to Lynda Carter’s get-up, this body-hugging extravaganza de-emphasizes the patriotism and seems to play up the comic’s Greek mythology. And a special shout-out to those bracelets! Wonder Woman is being remade by Boston Legal writer David E. Kelley, who has incorporated the superhero’s signature lasso, cuffs, and plane in the pilot. NBC promises the project, if picked up to series, will offer a serious, non-campy take on the DC Comics character. Along with Palicki, Elizabeth Hurley (Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me) and Cary Elwes (Saw, The Princess Bride) have joined the cast. Hurley’s character runs a pharmaceutical company that is creating a drug that makes people stronger while Elwes plays the CEO of Diana’s company, Themyscira Industries.
OK … so maybe Wonder Woman isn’t wearing pants, per se, but these are deffo tights … which is a big change to the iconic Wonder Woman costume. I thought I had prepared myself for changes like this but … I guess not. This new costume looks more like the new costume that was introduced in the WW comic books last Summer:
But thankfully she’s not wearing that hideous jacket nor those fugly trucker boots. I really do not like the costume as featured in the comic books but I’m not quite sure how I feel about how it looks in this photo. It’ll take me some time to get used to this new look … if I can get used to this new look. Vinyl pants with a camel toe seam, REALLY?! What do y’all think? Do you like this new incarnation of Wonder Woman at first glance?
