A few weeks ago we got our first look at Rihanna‘s new celebrity fragrance called Reb’l Fleur … today we get to check out a couple of promo photos for the new perfume. One photo gives us a clearer look at Ri Ri as she is featured on the packaging for the fragrance. The other photo is just plain sexy.
It’s a deal that’s been months in the making, but Rihanna is now officially Hollywood’s newest perfumer with the launch of her debut signature scent, Reb’l Fleur. “My grandmother in Barbados used to call me her Rebel Flower,” the singer tells PEOPLE of what inspired the fragrance’s name. And while the name might be the natural choice, deciding on the final mix proved something more of a challenge. “Over the years, I layered many different scents to get something that was truly my own,” she says. “But I wanted…something that said ‘Rihanna was here.’ Something delicious and special, a fragrance with subtle hints that linger and leave a sexy memory.” The end result recalls the star’s Caribbean upbringing with ripe fruits and sumptuous florals, as well as a musky mix of vanilla, patchouli and amber. Reb’l Fleur will begin rolling into department stores in February, priced at $49 for a 1.7 oz. bottle.
As I say every time a new celebrity fragrance comes out, I’m not sure the world really needs another celebrity fragrance but … well, here we go again. I can’t blame Rihanna for wanting to throw her hat into the celebrity perfume market. I kinda like how the Reb’l Fleur bottle looks like a high heel … that’s kinda cool. I think Rihanna missed a big opportunity to sell this new perfume for the holidays … but as this report makes clear, Reb’l Fleur won’t hit stores until next month. It’s coming, y’all … do you care?
