Prince Harry, er I mean Captain Prince Harry, reunited with the crew of Walking with the Wounded in London this week to celebrate the end of their successful mission to the North Pole. As you may recall, Harry walked part of the 200 km trek to the North Pole but had to return to London early to prepare for his older brother’s Royal Wedding this week. But the rest of the Walking with the Wounded crew did manage to complete their trek and are now all back home, safe and sound. Check out some photos and deets from their happy reunion below.

The journey, taken in March, was a venture by the Walking With The Wounded charity, of which Harry is a patron. He joined four wounded servicemen, all of whom were injured fighting in Afghanistan, and the two co-founders of the charity for the first five days of their unaided 200 mile trek to the North Pole. The Prince also trained with the team on the Norwegian island of Spitsbergen ahead of taking part in final preparations for the expedition. It included sleeping out on the ice and dragging a 100 kilogram sled through freezing temperatures of minus 40C. Prince Harry joined the team in London giving speeches that recounted the world record expedition and the challenges it brought them. The money raised from the North Pole trek will go towards helping injured servicemen and women find work and security.

As I said before, I think this is a fantastic charity and I hope Walking with the Wounded was able to raise the funds they were hoping for. I love that Prince Harry participated in the trek for as long as he could before his royal duties forced him to return home to London. By lending his name as patron to the charity, he is really making a bold statement about the causes he believes in. As a solider himself, I’m certain that Walking with the Wounded and other like charities are near and very dear to his heart. Let’s give a hearty congrats to all the folks to trekked to the North Pole to raise these much needed funds. Well done, everyone!
