No offense, but you had to have known that this was going to become an issue when you daughter decided to marry the most powerful man in England. This comes with the territory of being a royal - or related to royalty.
According to palace officials, Kate Middleton's family is a bit overwhelmed with the increased media attention they've been getting as they get closer and closer to the royal wedding date of Kate and Prince William. The family asked the Press Complaints Commission to pass on their concerns to editors of all major publications. A spokesman passed on the message publicly in a statement, saying:
"Following some incidents of alleged harassment and pursuit by agencies and freelancers, the Middleton family through the PCC has sought to draw the attention of editors to their concerns…The Middleton family and St James's Palace remain grateful to editors for their restraint and adherence to the code over the past few months."
He added that no formal complaint had been made to the PCC, but hopes that their request with them will help enforce a move civilized manner in which journalist and photographers will conduct themselves. In fact, the PCC has a voluntary code of practice for newspapers states that "journalists must not engage in intimidation, harassment or persistent pursuit". Hopefully, they will keep more closely to that code in the days ahead.
But sure the family realizes that this is only temporary. In a few weeks, their lives will significantly calm down. In the meantime, stay dignified and try not to let these hecklers get to you.
