Green Lantern, the big screen adaptation of the long-running DC Comics series, won’t open in theaters until June but this weekend at WonderCon 2011 in San Francisco, CA convention attendees got to see a LOT of new footage from the film. Early reports claim that folks who were lucky enough to screen the footage in person at WonderCon literally lost their shizz with excitement. Right now, YOU get to see that footage for yourselves right here … check it out below.

I wasn’t really aware that there was that much backlash from Green Lantern fans about the film but I can see how it might be inferred that the film is all comedy and no action from the first movie trailer we got to see last November. But the footage (basically a really long trailer) that you can watch below shows a lot more than comedy … it shows a pretty freakin’ cool-looking new superhero action film:

Oh yes, this footage looks MUCH better than I was expecting … tho, I’m not sure exactly what I was expecting to see. Because the film will feature LOTS of CGI, I guess I assumed much of it would look cheesy and, well, bad. Based on this new footage, the CGI looks sweet and actually believable. LOVE this footage so much. I am now really, really excited to see the film when it opens on June 17. What do y’all think? Are you impressed?
