Who says the US government doesn’t have a sense of humor? Yesterday the official Twitter profile for the White House decided to have fun with a Twitter follower in particular by RickRolling them. For those of you who don’t know what RickRolling is, it’s an Internet meme whereby a person is tricked into thinking they are clicking on a link for one thing but, instead, are taken to the Rick Astley music video for Never Gonna Give You Up. In the midst of tweeting about the dire fiscal situation plaguing the US right now, the White House Twitter feed also provided a BRILLIANT link to the Rick Astley music video. THIS site has an excellent explanation of RickRolling, which is worth reading even if you are somewhat familiar with the practice. I have to say … I kinda LOVE that the WH has a sense of humor like this. Plus, I love Rick Astley — always have — so … this is a great little news story to brighten up the day, don’t you think?
