Several Broadway plays are closing early due to poor sales at the box office, weak reviews, or a combination of both.
Even shows with big names aren't attracting customers. Shows such as Elling starring Brendan Fraser, La Bete starring David Hyde Pierce, and A Life in the Theatre starring T.R. Knight and Patrick Stewart, are all shutting down early.
In fact, La Bete and A Life in the Theatre had less than half-filled theaters last week. And Elling was forced to close after just one week!
The show's co-star, Tony Award-winner Denis O'Hare tweeted his disappointment:
What a world what a world…..got to be on CBS for the parade and oh, they are shutting down the play. One door shut, another window opens.
So unfortunate!
