Torchwood: Miracle Day, the first season of the long-running British series produced and filmed in the US, is doing very well on the Starz network but back in the motherland of the UK, it’s hit a bit of a snag. BBC censors have determined that the same-sex love scene that involves Captain Jack Harkness (played by lead John Barrowman) and a male bartender is too racy for broadcast — so they have cut the scene from the upcoming episode. Barrowman has gone on the record to express his disappointment at the BBC‘s decision to censor the scene. Read what he has to say about the censorship below … and check out a few HOT if kinda NSFW screencaps of the same-sex love scene in question below.

JOHN Barrowman has clashed with the BBC by defending Torchwood’s axed explicit gay sex scene – saying it was NOT gratuitous. The gay actor, who plays bisexual Jack Harkness, had filmed a romp with a barman for the current series. TV Biz told this week how bosses cut it, fearing a viewers’ backlash. But Barrowman insisted the scene was vital to the plot, saying: “It’s not gratuitous sex, it facilitates the story. “It’s nothing they grab just to put on the camera and sensationalise it.” He said more will be revealed about Jack’s past as the BBC1 sci-fi series continues tonight (9pm). Barrowman, 44, said: “You go back into history with Jack and you discover an integral relationship that is part and parcel to what is happening. It’s a massive story.”

While these screencaps are hot and a bit racy, I don’t see anything that isn’t normally shown on pretty much EVERY SINGLE dramatic show that features heterosexual love scenes. It’s pretty funny, the UK is usually much more tolerante in diversity matters on TV. It’s disappointing, mainly because it’s the UK audience who will suffer by NOT being able to see this scene. Torchwood is one of the only shows on TV anywhere that features a gay lead character. It is insane to me that his love scenes have to be cut from the show so as not to offend anyone. I love Torchwood, same-sex love scenes or not but … yeah, I’m not gonna lie … I am really looking forward to seeing this episode of Miracle Day. What do y’all think? Will you be tuning in to watch this ep of Torchwood: Miracle Day? Have you been watching thus far?
