Jennifer Lopez spent some time in Thousand Oaks, California today doing a little shopping.
Reportedly Jennifer may be facing a $40 million lawsuit over a concert that she canceled. She was scheduled to perform at a hotel grand opening on the island of Cyprus. Jennifer's rep had announced last week that she was not playing the concert because of "sensitivity to the political realities of the region." The island has been locked in political turmoil for years, and it sounds like a Facebook group may have been the deciding factor in her backing out.
The hotel's spokesperson released this statement:
"If she does not show up for the concert, we will begin a procedure in the courts to claim $35 to $40 million in damages," said Murat Bozoglu, the Turkish-speaking head executive of the Cratos Premium Hotel and Casino.
"The cancellation is not covered by any clause in the contract she signed with us."
Ouch. Can you imagine if she can't get out of the contract? That's a huge chunk of money. Hopefully they can settle things peacefully. You can't blame her for not wanting to be part of a heated political battle.
