Last night Sarah and I had the great pleasure of attending Tori Amos‘s sole Paris, France concert this year at L’Olympia. As some of you may know, last night’s Tori show was the reason my impromptu birthday trip to Paris even came to be … and it was worth the trip from LA to Paris just to see her perform:

Tori‘s set was full of some of our fave songs (China, Winter, Crucify) and the show — much to our pleasure — was a very nice, long set. After the jump, check out some of the photos I snapped last night and check out the full setlist from last night’s magical show …

We really appreciated the respectful Parisian audience. Back home in the US, rabid Tori fans like to scream every time she utters a single word and it sometimes make hearing her difficult … here in Paris, you could hear a pin drop as Tori sang … it really made for an enchanting concert experience. Here is the full setlist from last night’s show:

Curtain Call
China
Siren
Bachelorette (improv) > Suzanne [Leonard Cohen]
Mrs. Jesus
Space Dog
Leather
improv > Twinkle
Black Dove (January)
Winter
Bouncing Off Clouds
Snow Cherries From France
Girl
Marianne
Beauty of Speed
Gold Dust
Putting The Damage On
The Power of Orange Knickers
Another Girl’s Paradise
Precious Things

Encore

Crucify
Personal Jesus [Depeche Mode] / Body and Soul

Tori told more stories this show, it’s been a long time since we’ve been to a concert where Tori was up for telling little stories in between the songs. She explained how bad her French is, told the crowd she was “getting old” and had to wear reading glasses for her cover of Cohen‘s Suzanne and at the start of the show dedicated the concert to the ghosts of the great artists who have performed at L’Olympia before her … specifically Edith Piaf and Jeff Buckley. The night was truly magical and enchanting and it was the best way to end our whirlwind trip to Paris :)

Nikki Reed
