Illustrious actress Amanda Bynes — who has starred in such films as What A Girl Wants, She’s the Man, Hairspray and Sydney White and TV shows like The Amanda Show, All That and What I Like About You — has, at the tender age of 24, announced her retirement on her official Twitter account. The official announcement is very light on deets … it suggests that she is retiring from acting altogether but it remains to be seen if she is also retiring from the public eye. Here are the retirement tweets posted by Amanda early this morning:

I’ve never written the movies & tv shows I’ve been apart of I’ve only acted like the characters the producers or directors wanted me to play / Being an actress isn’t as fun as it may seem / If I don’t love something anymore I stop doing it / I don’t love acting anymore so I’ve stopped doing it / I know 24 is a young age to retire but you heard it here first I’ve #retired

And there you have it, folks … the end of an era. I have to say, I like Amanda Bynes a lot. I think she is a cute actress and I generally enjoy the movies she does … you know, when they come on cable and I’ve got nothing better to do. To be honest, I’m not really her target audience so … that’s pretty good, I think. Anyways … this retirement announcement may seem like it came out of the blue … but if you follow Amanda on Twitter, you know that she is totally random. This is the tweet she posted just before she announced her retirement:

I like black men I’m very attracted to them just fyi

And here is a sampling of some of the other random tweets that she posts on her official Twitter account:

I only smile if I’m happy if you catch me smiling I’m happy / Happy June 15th :) / i have love for everybody I follow or don’t follow if you’re good news :) / keep your love you never know if you’ll find another one / coincidences exist for sure, sometimes I think God makes coincidences to show us fate exists since some things can’t be explained / I’m changing my name back to @AmandaBynes pretty soon on twitter fyi / I’m your original girl so I like being called an OG it’s sweet

And on and on. Amanda has not tweeted a single thing since she announced her retirement … so it’s possible she has also retired from Twitter. Whatever the case may be, it might be nice to pour one out for Amanda‘s acting a career should she actually follow thru with her declaration. I know I’m bummed there will never be a She’s the Man 2 but sometimes life is cruel.

Soooo … what do y’all think of Amanda’s retirement announcement?
