It sounds like David Beckham used the recovery time he spent recuperating from his Achilles tendon injury earlier this year to start designing his own clothing line. It is being reported that Becks has decided to launch his own line of men’s suits … which will be manufactured and sold by his wife Victoria Beckham‘s clothing line dVb:

David Beckham, famous for his edgy sense of style and impeccable dressed, is set to launch his own range of suits. David’s wife Victoria is now a successful fashion designer and she has reportedly convinced him to create his own line of men’s evening wear for her clothing label. “Victoria has been trying to persuade him to do it for a while and he’s finally succumbed,” a source told British newspaper The Daily Star. “She’s reassured him that he has an eye for fashion.” David is currently unable to play soccer as he is still recovering from an injury to his Achilles tendon. He has reportedly been using his spare time to start working on his first Autumn/Winter 2011 collection. The line will reportedly include a range of custom-made suits and tuxedos and garments suitable for formal day wear. “David is hoping to produce a range of men’s couture clothing of fitted suits, smart day wear and an evening range – and Victoria thinks it will go down a storm,” the source added.

Now THIS is a great idea. If anyone should be selling a collection of suits, it should be David Beckham. The man looks his best when he’s all dressed up in his fancy threads, the mere sight of him in a suit should make any want want to look just as good. To be honest, IMHO, a suit is a suit is a suit. The same suits they sell at Sears look exactly like the uberexpensive ones they sell at Bloomingdales … but it’s all about branding. I’d be willing to shell out the dough for a David Beckham suit rather than a Calvin Klein suit. I’m actually surprised Becks hasn’t thought to do this before … it’s a great idea. If only the men who will be buying and wearing his suits could look as good as Becks does … he’d be a billionaire.
