For the past few weeks I have rekindled my intense love for industrial music and have been missing the countless hours I used to spend at City Club, my fave Goth/Industrial club in Detroit, MI … and after 4 years of living here in LA, I decided it was finally time to go out and check out the industrial scene here in town. I heard that Das Bunker was the best industrial danceparty in LA and I’ve been keeping my eye on their events to find the right time to visit. Last night they hosted a History of Industrial Music party which was DJed by ex Nine Inch Nails drummer Chris Vrenna (among other DJs):
I figured checking out this party would be the best way to get a feel for the place. So … I put on my combat boots and made my way to the club. I am so glad that I finally decided to check this place out … the scene is pretty cool and the people seem very cool. IMHO, a goth is a goth is a goth … the dress is the same but it’s all about the vibe and the music of a place for me. Das Bunker reminded me a bit of my beloved City Club but nothing can replace it in my heart. Still, I’m glad I now have a place in LA to go to when the spirit moves me:
I had a total blast … I can’t wait to go back. I’m certain that none of my friends here in LA (David included) would enjoy the scene but I love it … and miss it. Last night was superfun … I deffo will be going back soon.
Tonight David and I are meeting up with our friend Jordan so that we can all head out to the Hollywood Bowl to see the new Neil Patrick Harris-directed production of Rent! We are all very excited to see the show. I’ve tried to stay away from reviews of last night’s opening night performance but I hear they have been positive … I can’t wait to see for myself!
