Last night, in between laundry and packing for David’s and my trip to Maui, HI later today, I managed to find some down time so that I could watch Batman & Robin. I’ve been on a bit of a Batman kick lately and I started rewatching all of the Batman films … last night it was time to watch the worst movie of the bunch:

As a huge, life-long Batman fan I was really excited when Batman & Robin came out in 1997. I even talked myself into loving the movie so that I could see it a few times in the theater much like I did for the previous Batman films. But watching the film again after all these years, ugh, I can’t even stomach it any more. Batman Forever is pretty bad but Batman & Robin is worse … and it’s all because director Joel Schumacher is a hack. He completely ruined the Batman franchise but putting out these really stupid movies. I can’t even go into all the annoying things about B&R but the one thing that struck me most of all was the writing … some of the lines uttered by the actors in this film are downright idiotic. I was actually insulted as I watched Batman & Robin again. I just thank the gods that A.) Tim Burton managed to start out the franchise right with 2 great films and B.) the Batman franchise is now in the hands of the very masterful Christopher Nolan. I will never forgive Schumacher for ruining the Batman franchise … the less said about his shitty work, the better.

And with that off my chest … I can now look forward to my trip to Hawaii!! David and I fly out in a few hours and we’ll be in Maui by tonight. We have a very full wedding schedule so I’m not sure how our days/nights are going to play out. It will be really fun to hang out with all of David’s NYC friends … and, of course, we are very much looking forward to celebrating Marissa and Ryan’s wedding on Saturday. I’ll be working as usual during my trip so you’ll deffo be hearing some Alohas from me :D
