Back in November of last year, Oprah Winfrey made the surprising announcement that she would be ending her still hugely popular daytime TV talk show The Oprah Winfrey after just one more season. Oprah plans to launch her own television network called the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) in 2011 and will be focusing her attention there presumably with a new talk show in place. The final Farewell Season of The Oprah Winfrey Show will debut in just over a month on September 13 and today we get our first look at the preview trailer for The Farewell Season of The Oprah Winfrey Show:

Oprah Winfrey is [preparing] to say goodbye to “The Oprah Winfrey Show” which has been running for 25 years. [The "farewell season" will debut on September 13 and the trailer features] Oprah hosting the show and interacting with people of every kind over the years. Oprah [in] her very first episode on September 8, 1986 kicks off the trailer. “One of the biggest things I’ve learned over the years is that people want to be heard,” she says in the trailer. “Every human being, no matter what age, no matter how old we get is looking for the same thing. What everybody wants is to know.” Oprah announced last year that she was ending her talk show to begin a new chapter in her life. She is concentrating to build Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) which is a joint ownership between Harpo Studio and Discovery Communications. OWN will start airing on January 2011, offering innovative programming which aim is to help its viewers with healthier lifestyle and more informed lives.

And here we are … just weeks away from the start of the final season ever of The Oprah Winfrey Show. It’s hard to imagine the full scope of Winfrey‘s influence on American culture … for the past 20+ years, she has been setting the tone of discourse in this country unlike any other singular person has. The success of her show has given her the power and the funds to start her own television network … and with that power and those funds, she plans to take the next step in WORLD DOMINATION! Okay, maybe not quite but I’m sure she definitely plans to have as huge an impact as she possibly can with her OWN network … but we’re not quite there just yet. After the jump, check out the trailer for The Farewell Season of The Oprah Winfrey Show so you can prepare yourselves for the coming end of the show …

In all honesty, I can’t say that I have full confidence that Oprah‘s OWN network will be a smash success. It is extremely difficult to launch an entirely new network but I suppose you have to start somewhere. Networks like Lifetime and Bravo took years to find success … while LOGO is still working very hard in order to break thru and become a big success 5 years after it launched. Oprah has her work cut out for her … so my guess is that she will have as much fun as possible during this Farewell Season of her daytime talk show. I’m not a huge fan of the show but even I have to tune in when Oprah scores her big name guests. I suspect I’ll be watching much of The Oprah Winfrey Show this final season … after all, once it’s gone … it’s gone.
